ADVANCED ORCHESTRA
Symphonic Strings is the most advanced step in the Venice Middle School Orchestra Program. Symphonic Orchestra is primarily an 8th grade ensemble with most students beginning their 3rd year of orchestra. There are some very talented 7th graders who have developed quickly through the ranks to become members of this organization. The students in this class are studying upper level music theory, constructing and playing scales, and performing more advanced string literature. This is a performing group and represents Venice Middle School with a very high standard of musical repertoire. This group also performs at the Florida Orchestra Association District MPA event every year. The focus is working through String Basics, Book 2, and of course, lots of great orchestral literature. The Symphonic Orchestra will perform several concerts throughout the year. These will be graded events.
The evaluation of each student will be partially based on their positive class participation, attendance, active engagement in activities, practice habits, and group interaction. The most important part of the student's grade will be their classroom participation.
Advanced Orchestra students are required for each concert to wear: a black dress shirt with a modest neckline, long black pants or a long black skirt, black socks or stockings, and black dress shoes.
